Faculty Position (open rank) in Public Administration

(Effective 16 August 2017)

 

Position Summary

KIMEP University College of Social Science, Public and Municipal Administration, invites applications for one faculty position (open rank). The position is a twelve-month (including vacation period) full-time academic appointment to begin 16 August 2017. Responsibilities involve teaching (face to face and on-line), research, scholarly activities, advising, field liaison and service. Faculty hired for this position will have the opportunity to teach in our bachelor and master programs. The department offers major specializations in Public Policy and Administration, Governance and Law, and Financial Management.

We seek a talented teacher and innovative scholar who is actively engaged in research and enthusiastic about teaching baccalaureate and masters degree students and serving the University, local communities and the profession. We are looking for a productive and cooperative colleague who will bring new perspectives to teaching and research in public administration.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Expertise is required in at least two of the following fields: Public Policy, Public Finance or Financial Management. Familiarity with CIS countries or similar international experience is welcome. Applicants must have an earned doctorate in a related field from an internationally-recognized, accredited university. ABD’s will be considered who meet the position qualifications and include in their application materials a letter from the dissertation chair confirming defense date prior to the position start date. Candidates must have a record of scholarship, which includes published research in refereed journals and/or books.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Applicants with track record of demonstrated competence in teaching face to face and on-line will be give extra consideration.

 

The College of Social Science

The College of Social Science has an accomplished faculty of 29 full-time and 9 part-time faculty and 4 dedicated administrative staff. The College includes the departments of: Media and Communication, Public Administration, International Relations and Economics.

Compensation

Rank and salary are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Compensation after-tax compares favorably with net salaries in western countries. Limited on-campus housing is available to rent. In addition to salary, a benefits package includes basic healthcare, reduced tuition rates for KIMEP courses, subsidy for children’s school tuition and relocation allowance. New faculty members are provided with a reduced teaching schedule during the first semester. Summer paid teaching is typically available.
