Faculty Position (Open Rank) in Languages
(Effective on August 15, 2019)
Position Summary
KIMEP University Language Center invites applications for four faculty position (open rank). The position is a twelve-month (including vacation period) full-time academic appointment to begin on 15 August 2019. Responsibilities include teaching, research, scholarly activities, advising, field liaison and service. The department offers undergraduate and graduate programs and teaches academic and theoretic courses in Languages.
We seek a talented teacher and innovative scholar who is actively engaged in research, enthusiastic about teaching baccalaureate and master’s degree students and serving the University, local community and the profession. We are looking for a productive and cooperative colleague who will bring new perspectives to theory, research and practice in the field of Languages.
Minimum Qualifications
Expertise is desired in the following areas: Applied Linguistics or/and Language Education (with quantitative research skills), Translation, and TESOL. Familiarity with CIS countries or similar international experience is welcome. Applicants must have an earned doctorate and/or master degrees in Languages, Linguistics or another relevant field from an internationally-recognized, accredited university.
Applicants with doctorate degree for the positions should have at least 3-5 years of teaching experiences in reputable universities and extensive professional experiences in the field of major areas
Applicants with Master degree for the positions should have 1-2 year of teaching experience in reputable universities and extensive professional experiences in the field of major areas.
ABD’s will be considered who meet the position qualifications and include in their application materials a letter from the dissertation chair confirming defense date prior to the position’s start date.

Compensation
Rank and salary are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Compensation after-tax compares favorably with net salaries in western countries. Limited on-campus housing is available to rent. In addition to salary, a benefits package includes basic healthcare, reduced tuition rates for KIMEP courses, and relocation allowance. New faculty members are provided with a reduced teaching schedule during the first semester. Summer paid teaching is typically available.
The salary will be subject to deduction of taxes (10%) as required by the Law of Kazakhstan.
