Post Title: Full-time Faculty (Open Rank) in the History of Kazakhstan

Position Summary

The General Education Program under the College of Social Sciences at KIMEP University is looking for applicants to the full-time faculty in Kazakhstan history. The successful candidate will teach multiple sections of Modern History of Kazakhstan. Because the course is required of all students, we are seeking enthusiastic team leaders to collaborate with part-time faculty from other departments as well as within CSS. 

 

The position may also involve teaching in other areas of the College, depending on background and interest. CSS includes the departments of Media and Communications, Public Administration, International Relations and Regional Studies, and Economics.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should have an earned doctorate in History, Anthropology, Cultural Studies or relevant areas from accredited institutions. Applicants should have at least 3-5 years of teaching experiences in reputable universities and extensive professional experiences in the field of major areas. Applicants should be able to teach in English, as well as Russian and/or Kazakh language.

ABDs will be considered who meet the position qualifications and include in their application materials a letter from the dissertation chair confirming defense date prior to the position start date. Candidates must have a record of scholarship, which includes published research in refereed journals and/or books.

A valid certificate of English language proficiency should be provided by final candidates who are non-native speakers of English (The International English Language Testing System or IELTS academic with overall score 8.0 or equivalent).

 

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with online and hybrid course design and teaching is strongly desired, along with a demonstrated commitment to innovative, student-centered pedagogy.  International experience and interest in CIS countries is welcome.  Ability and willingness to teach related courses in our College of Education and Humanities will also be an asset.

Compensation

Rank and salary are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Compensation after ­tax compares favorably with net salaries in western countries.

Limited on campus housing is available to rent, or alternatively, help is available in finding off campus housing. In addition to salary, a benefit package includes basic healthcare insurance, reduced tuition rates for KIMEP courses, and subsidy for relocation allowance. New faculty members are provided with a reduced teaching schedule during the first semester. Summer paid teaching is typically available.

The salary will be subject to deduction of taxes as required by the Law of Kazakhstan.
