POSITION DESCRIPTION – ASST/ASSOC/FULL PROFESSOR OF LAW
Position Summary
KIMEP University School of Law invites applications for one academic track faculty position (open rank). The position is a twelve-month (including vacation period) full-time faculty appointment to begin in January 2024. Responsibilities include teaching, research/ scholarly activities, and service. The department offers undergraduate (LL.B. and Bachelor of International Law) and graduate (LL.M.) programs in Public and Private Law. The teaching load per semester is 12 credits, which is generally 4 courses.

We are looking for productive and cooperative colleagues who will bring new perspectives to theory, research and practice in the field of Law.
Minimum Qualifications
Expertise in Kazakhstan Law and Practice is required. Those with experience in commercial, labor, tax and/or intellectual property Law practice are especially welcome to apply. Applicants must have an earned terminal degree (Ph.D., S.J.D., Dr.Iur., J.D.) in Law from an internationally-recognized, accredited/attested university. Applicants for the position should have at least 3 years of tertiary teaching experience and at least 3 years of legal practice in Kazakhstan. Professional fluency in English and Russian are required, additional fluency in Kazakh is preferred.
The School of Law
The School of Law has a full-time faculty of 8 full-time and a number of part-time faculty and 3 dedicated administrative staff. The language of instruction is English, but certain specified classes may be taught primarily in Russian.

Compensation
Rank and salary are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Compensation after-tax compares favorably with net salaries in western countries. Limited on-campus housing is available to rent. In addition to salary, a benefits package includes basic healthcare, reduced tuition rates for KIMEP courses and relocation allowance. New faculty members are provided with a reduced teaching schedule during the first semester. Summer paid teaching is typically available.
The salary will be subject to deduction of taxes (10%) as required by the Law of Kazakhstan.
