Job Title: Executive Director (TEMPORARY POSITION)
Division: Student Affairs Division
Department: Student Affairs
Position reports to: Dean of Student Affairs
Job Purpose Summary:
The Executive Director is a senior leadership position within the Division o f Student Affairs and assumed to work with the Dean of Student Affairs (SA) to facilitate the development and implementation of Student Affairs programs and special projects. The Executive Director exercises considerable independent judgment and decision-making authority and has primary responsibility for the strategic and administrative leadership, development, and oversight of activities within the division. In addition, the Executive Director maintains close liaison with KSA (KIMEP Student Association) in projects and payments; manages the formulation and updating of policies under the responsibility of the Division, and heads special projects and committees by assignment.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Help to Dean of SA in building and leading an effective team dedicated to fulfilling the university’s mission through highly successful program implementation, community engagement
- Oversee student clubs, manage student activities and budgetary information, and work with students to provide referrals for counseling and community services;
- Develops goals, objectives, and plans to attain the vision and mission of the division;
- Provide direction and supervision of the units and directors within the Student Affairs division;
- Develop key collaborative relationships with campus administrative areas, faculty, and campus and community leaders to enhance planning and implementing strategic initiatives, resolving issues, and responding to crisis incidents;
- Coordinate Student Affairs response to major crisis and other unusual events impacting students within the University Community;
- Provide direction and intervention for students in crisis and non-crisis including intervening with mental health staff, providing victim advocacy, and working with staff and students affected by the crisis;
- Serve as chair of the Student Affairs Disciplinary committee;
- Provide leadership and guidance in analysis, review, creation and interpretation of student policies and procedures;
- Serve as a resource to University faculty and staff in dealing with students' disruptive behavior within and outside the classroom;
- Develop strategies for promoting student engagement and learning in collaboration with Academic Affairs;
- Communicate effectively with students and other stakeholders;
- Foster an inclusive University community and promote equity for all students;
- Promote student participation in social, cultural, and recreational activities;
- Support the goals of the University’s mission, vision and strategic plan;
- Provide detailed analysis and recommendations to the Dean of SA based on this research;
- Implement new practices and programs that benefit the University and enhance the student experience;
- Collaborate with program directors, project managers, and other campus personnel to facilitate the development, implementation, and completion of special programs and projects;
- Represent Dean of SA in planning meetings and serve as the Student Affairs Liaison for campus-wide student programs;
- Produce complex written documents, reports, and communications and develop and/or oversee the development of annual reports;
- Serve on committees and special task force assignments;
- Organize and facilitate project planning and objectives, daily stand up meetings, reviews; Coordinate and assess the project tasks and issues timely;
- Track progress and review project tasks and provide timely feedback;
- Work collaboratively with the KSA (KIMEP Student Association) and student organizations/clubs;
- Promotes student participation in social, cultural, and recreational activities;
- Works to implement initiatives and activities for student success;
- Update and revise the information regularly on the Student Affairs pages of the web- site;
- Work with the military departments of universities, composing students lists, conducting reconciliation with military departments;
- Communicate with stakeholders to keep them informed of the work of the KIMEP University;
- Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with University groups, and units to assist the goals;
- Develops and manages the Student Affairs resources and budgets;
- Other duties may be assigned by Dean of Student Affairs;
Required:
- Masters Degree (preferably in Education field or related field) completed or in progress;
- Experience in student life programs developing initiatives that enhance students co-curricular experiences;
- Practical experience in multiple student affairs functional areas;
- High level of English and Russian;
Preferred:
- Documented experience writing/producing written documents/reports;
- Evidence of experience working in a position that required strong written and oral communication skills;
- Leadership (presentations, positions and active participation) in Student Affairs professional organizations;
