POSITION DESCRIPTION 

Position Summary

KIMEP University School of Law, invites applications for two faculty positions (open rank). The position is a twelve-month (including vacation period) full-time academic appointment to begin on 16 August 2022. Responsibilities include teaching, research, scholarly activities, and service. The department offers undergraduate and graduate (LLM) programs and teaches applied and theoretical courses in International and Domestic Law. The teaching load per semester is 12 credits, which is generally 4 courses.

 

We seek talented teachers and innovative scholars who are actively engaged in research, enthusiastic about teaching baccalaureate and master’s degree students and serving the University, local community and the profession. We are looking for productive and cooperative colleagues who will bring new perspectives to theory, research and practice in the field of law.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Expertise is desired in Kazakhstan public and private law. Those specializing in commercial, energy, environmental, labor, property, or tax areas are especially welcome to apply. Applicants must have earned candidate of science/doctorate/PhD in Law, SJD, Dr.Iur., JD or other relevant field from an internationally-recognized, accredited university.  Applicants for position should have at least 3-5 years of teaching experience in reputable universities and professional experiences in the field of major areas.

The School of Law has an accomplished faculty of 9 full-time and 10 part-time faculty and 2 dedicated administrative staff.

Compensation

Rank and salary are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Compensation after-tax compares favorably with net salaries in western countries. Limited on-campus housing is available to rent. In addition to salary, a benefits package includes basic healthcare, reduced tuition rates for KIMEP courses, subsidy for children’s school tuition and relocation allowance. New faculty members are provided with a reduced teaching schedule during the first semester. Summer paid teaching is typically available. 

The salary will be subject to deduction of taxes (10%) as required by the Law of Kazakhstan.
