POSITION DESCRIPTION
Faculty Position in Economics/Data Analytics
(effective from August 2024 or, if agreed, at an earlier date)
Position Summary
KIMEP University, College of Social Sciences, Department of Economics, invites applications for a faculty position at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professorial level in Economics/Data Analytics. The position is a three-year full-time academic appointment to begin on August 16, 2024. An entry date in January 2024 may be considered. The position is renewable upon mutual agreement. Responsibilities include teaching, research, scholarly activities, advising, field liaison and service.
We are looking for a talented teacher and innovative scholar who is actively engaged in research, enthusiastic about teaching bachelor, master and PhD students. We are looking for a productive and cooperative colleague who will bring new perspectives to theory, research and practice of the subject.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have an earned doctorate in Economics or another relevant field from an internationally-recognized, accredited university. Applicants for position should have at least 3-5 years of teaching experiences in reputable universities and extensive professional experiences in the field of major areas. ABD’s will be considered who meet the position qualifications and include in their application materials a letter from the dissertation chair confirming defense date prior to the position’s start date.
Minimum QualificationsThe successful candidate will be able to cover teaching obligations in Mathematics for Business and Economics and to teach courses in statistics and data analytics for students of economics and the social sciences. Applicants must have a PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or a related subject.
Applicants for the position should have at least 3-5 years of teaching experience in higher education. The College of Social Sciences
The College of Social Science has a faculty of 25 full-time and ten part-time faculty members and three dedicated administrative staff. Apart from the Department of Economics, the College includes the departments of Media and Communications, Public Administration and International Relations and Regional Studies.

Compensation
Rank and salary are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Compensation after tax compares favorably with net salaries in western countries.
Limited on campus housing is available to rent or help in finding off campus housing In addition to salary, a benefit package includes basic healthcare insurance, reduced tuition rates for KIMEP courses, and subsidy for relocation allowance. New faculty members are provided with a reduced teaching schedule during the first semester. Summer paid teaching is typically available.
The salary will be subject to deduction of taxes (10% Personal Income tax in general) as required by the Law of Kazakhstan.
