Faculty Position (Open Rank) in Cognitive Science/Computational Linguistics is effective from August 15, 2025 or until filled.
Position Summary
KIMEP University College of Human Sciences and Education invites applications for one faculty position. The positions are a three-year full-time academic appointment to begin on 15 August 2025 with possibility of extension. Responsibilities include teaching, scholarly activities, and service. The new faculty will assist in the undergraduate and graduate programs offered by the department, particularly in our BA in Cognitive Science.
We seek talented instructors and innovative scholars in the area of cognitive science/ computational linguistics who can teach some or all of the following courses: Natural Language Processing, Logic of Language, Computational Linguistics, Corpus Linguistics, Text Data Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Human-Computer Interactions, etc.

For all instructors experience with remote or online course design and teaching is strongly desired. Familiarity with CIS countries or similar international experience is welcome.
ABD’s will be considered who meet the position qualifications and include in their application materials a letter from the dissertation chair confirming defense date prior to the position’s start date.

Compensation
Rank and salary are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Compensation after tax compares favorably with net salaries in western countries.
Limited on campus housing is available to rent, or alternatively, help is available in finding off campus housing. In addition to salary, a benefit package includes basic healthcare insurance, reduced tuition rates for KIMEP courses, and subsidy for relocation allowance. New faculty members are provided with a reduced teaching schedule during the first semester. Summer paid teaching is typically available.
The salary will be subject to deduction of taxes (10% Personal Income tax in general) as required by the Law of Kazakhstan.
