POSITION DESCRIPTION

Staff Position to provide licensed attorney supervision of student practice in the Legal Clinic and Ask-A-Lawyer program. Also to provide support for other Experiential Learning activities, such as mooting, internships and in-class simulations. Incumbent will also assist in recruitment of students, faculty and adjuncts, as well as in alumni relations and job placement.

Position Summary:

We seek a talented and enthusiastic legal professional to manage the School of Law's Legal Clinic and online Ask-A-Lawyer program, and to assist with the LS portfolio of other experiential education opportunities for students, and to assist the Dean, Associate Dean and Director with outreach to various constituencies, and particularly our high school debate tournament in English and supervision of subordinate staff. The Associate Director will have primary and professional responsibility for student practice, including practice management and marketing. An academic appointment in Law or Practice may be considered for applicants with a suitable graduate degree (LL.M., J.D., J.C.D., or Ph.D. in Law) and expertise in an area of law required by the Law School.

Minimum Qualifications:

An earned LL.B. is the minimum academic qualification. At least ten years of Kazakhstan practice are preferred, but five are required - preferably at least partially in a small practice environment and with some practice management/marketing exposure. Professional fluency in English and Russian is required, with additional fluency in Kazakh preferred.

Undergraduate degrees awarded are the Bachelor of Laws in Jurisprudence (LL.B.) and the Bachelor of International Law (B. I.L.). The Master of Laws (LL.M.) is awarded at the graduate level.

Compensation

Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to salary, the benefits package includes basic healthcare, reduced tuition rates for KIMEP courses.
